For better or for worse, exclusivity deals are a part of the gaming console climate. Whether you look at PS4, Xbox One or Switch, publishers negotiate deals left and right. Most common exclusivity deals include exclusive releases, timed-DLC and much more. However, Ubisoft seems to have a unique exclusivity deal for Assassin’s Creed Origins on Xbox One X.

Gamers who were at E3 2017 had the opportunity to check out Assassin’s Creed Origins. The game is clearly a showcase title for the upcoming Xbox One X system. Anyone who has seen the game run on the new system will surely recognize how incredible it is looking.

Well, there may be a reason for why Assassin’s Creed Origins looks so darn good on Xbox One X. Ubisoft and Microsoft seem to have a deal for the Xbox One X version of the game. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot talked about the Xbox One X version of Assassin’s Creed Origins, plus the console’s potential for growth.

“We did a deal with Microsoft on Assassin’s Creed: Origins, which is taking really good advantage of the power of the machine. We like very much what they are doing because instead of having a Kinect or something this time the industry went after more power for the machine, so more immersion, better AI, and overall better games.

“We like that because it means the industry will grow because the better the experiences, the more people want to have it. We think it has a good potential. If Microsoft is really behind it, it can do well,” Guillemot told GameSpot.

There’s quite a bit that’s up for interpretation here. However, I read the above as Ubisoft and Microsoft struck a deal to ensure Assassin’s Creed Origins runs at a certain level on Xbox One X. That’s obviously not confirmed and I have reached out to Ubisoft for further comment.

That said, it’ll be interesting to see if the best version of the game ends up being the Xbox One X version. If so, it will surely fall in line with Microsoft’s messaging. As they say, the best versions of your favorite games will run on Xbox One X. However, I wonder how much marketing deals will have a say in that.

No matter what though, Assassin’s Creed Origins looks absolutely magnificent on Xbox One X. The difference feels real and not just a marketing slogan. Ubisoft is releasing the new game this coming Oct. 27. The game will be available on Xbox One X, Xbox One, PS4 Pro, PS4 and PC. Stick around here at We Write Things for more on Assassin’s Creed.
