Earlier this year, Scalebound was canceled by Microsoft and disappointment was felt across all gaming circles. As we have gotten further into 2017, Microsoft has shed more light on what their lineup for this year is looking like.

There are a slew of major upcoming titles for Xbox One. Those include State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves. Another huge title for Microsoft will be Crackdown 3. While there have been rumblings about the shape of the game, it sounds like things are moving along nicely.

Gamers are wondering what they can expect from Crackdown 3 as well as when they can get their hands on it. Recently, Shannon Loftis, who is the general manager at Microsoft Studios, spoke about what gamers can expect from Crackdown 3 and when they can expect it to launch.

“If you remember how great the original Crackdowns were, with the big, open cities and as you leveled up, your cars and weapons leveled up, imagine all of that times 10. Crackdown 3 is all about the boom. It is a massive futuristic city. You have smarter enemies, more vehicles and new weapons. The explosions and the destruction [make it] an incredible experience. [Crackdown 3] is coming this year,” Loftis said in a new video.

This is great news for gamers who have been concerned about Crackdown 3. With Microsoft confirming the game’s 2017 launch timeframe, it is a huge sigh of relief for Xbox gamers. If the title does indeed launch this year, then gamers can likely expect a multiplayer beta sometime soon.

With the online and multiplayer aspects of Crackdown 3, a beta is a near certainty. Unless Microsoft holds an event for Project Scorpio sometime over the next few months, expect to hear more about Crackdown 3 at E3 2017. Microsoft’s Crackdown 3 will launch on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Project Scorpio this year. Stick around here at We Write Things for more on Crackdown 3.
