Nearly three years ago, Ubisoft released one of the most surprising and refreshing games of 2014, South Park: The Stick of Truth. The game turned out to be a smash success. And finally, we saw a publisher get a licensed game right.

Ubisoft took notice of how well the first game performed and now soon, the second iteration in the series will debut. At some point next year, South Park: The Fractured But Whole will launch. The publisher still has yet to attach an official release date for the title. However, they have dropped a new South Park: The Fractured But Whole trailer.

Ubisoft San Francisco is partnering up with South Park Studios to create South Park: The Fractured But Whole. This collaboration worked extremely well the first time around. This next game should deliver an improved RPG and combat experience from the first game.

With a few seasons of South Park the TV show having passed, and a ton of world events coming and going, I wonder what Ubisoft has up their sleeves for The Fractured But Whole. Hopefully there are a bountiful amount of comments regarding this past election. I know they did some episodes on it, but you can never get enough of making fun of politicians.

The upcoming game “has expanded with more places to explore and greater freedom to customize each players’ character. An all-new combat system offers unique opportunities to master space and time while on the battlefield, and a revamped looting and crafting system gives players the freedom to craft their own equipment to aid them in battle,” Ubisoft wrote.

There is still no exact release date for South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Some expect the game to debut sometime during spring 2017, however, Ubisoft is already releasing For Honor and Ghost Recon Wildlands during the first three months of the year.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see South Park get pushed into the summer. Who knows? It might even perform better, sales-wise, then. There usually isn’t as much competition during the May, June and July months of the year.

Whenever South Park: The Fractured But Whole does launch, it’ll land on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stick around here at We Write Things for more on South Park.
