Ubisoft has been investing considerable resources in their new division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, which is a division that will see its first release debut this coming December. Today, however, is about the individuals who will be starring in a different Ubisoft film, one for the highly popular new gaming IP, Tom Clancy’s The Division.
Ubisoft has revealed that Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain will star in the newly announced, upcoming film “The Division.” Moviegoers will remember Chastain from roles in films such as “The Martian,” “Interstellar,” “The Help,” and “Zero Dark Thirty,” while others will recognize Gyllenhaal from projects like “End of Watch,” “Nightcrawler,” and “Southpaw.”
The company has already stated they are in the process of creating a movie for the highly popular open-world title Watch Dogs, which will see its second video game iteration released this coming November. Gerard Guillemot, who is the Chief Executive Officer for Ubisoft Motion Pictures, spoke about today’s news.
“We are excited to collaborate with Jessica and Jake, two of Hollywood’s most talented actors and perfect creative collaborators to help bring Tom Clancy’s The Division to the big screen,” Guillemot said.
Ubisoft has partnered up with Michael Fasssbender to star in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film, which will debut this December. Matt Phelps, who is the Vice President for Ubisoft Motion Pictures, expressed his thoughts on The Division‘s news as well.
“Attaching Jake and Jessica is part of our development philosophy of working closely with top talent from the earliest stages to collaborate on a high quality film,” Phelps said.
No timetable was listed as to when production or shooting will begin for the film, and the same can be said about when it will hit theaters. Ubisoft’s first major motion picture Assassin’s Creed will debut this coming Dec. 21.
