Nintendo has positioned the Nintendo Switch in a strong position for the 2017 holiday season, as DOOM and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are both planned to release in the coming months; but The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Switch Edition is situated to be a major release for the platform. Nintendo and Bethesda announced during the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast that Skyrim will release for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 17 in North America. To differentiate itself from previous Skyrim releases, the Switch version has Nintendo extras to lure in a new audience, and to make Skyrim veterans ponder a double-dip.
Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Switch Edition will mark the first time the franchise has released on a Nintendo platform, and the first time the series has been playable on a portable device. The appeal of taking Skyrim with you and being able to play anywhere at any time is a tough to resist. The Switch version will come with all the DLC expansions – Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn.
In addition to the expansion packs, players will be able to earn Zelda treasure in-game – as was hinted earlier this year. By having Zelda themed content and treasures available, Skyrim will be able to attract Nintendo fans and may even get people interested in returning to Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch for a second or third time. One has to admit that it is cool to be able to dress your character as Link and wield the Master Sword while adventuring through Skyrim and battling dragons.
