Nintendo quelled fears that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 would be delayed into early 2018 today during their Nintendo Direct video broadcast; as the company announced that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will in fact release on Dec. 1 in North America. Alongside the game’s release date, the company announced that there will be a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Special Edition – in addition to a Xenoblade themed Pro Controller. Nintendo is looking to make the Switch’s first holiday season a strong one, and they have the goods to make it possible.

As mentioned above, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will release for Nintendo Switch on Dec. 1 in North America. The game will be available in two forms – a regular edition and a Special Edition. The Xenoblade Chronicles 2Special Edition will feature: a metal game case, 220 page art book, and a sample CD of the game’s musical tracks – a sampling of the game’s OST can be heard here. The Special Edition will cost $99.99. Furthermore, Nintendo is going to release a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 themed Pro Controller for Switch – similar to what they did with a Splatoon 2 themed Pro controller.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 looks to the end the Switch’s first year in grand fashion as it takes players on an epic journey in the world of Alrest. Following the story of Rex and Pyra, the game spans multiple environments and settings. Fans of past Xenoblade games will enjoy the freedom to customize and select a range of weapons and abilities to use in battle.

Look forward to hearing more on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as its release date nears.
