Last year, Activision released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered alongside Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Today, the former is officially getting a standalone release. The publisher is confirming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is available today for PS4 only.

Xbox One and PC gamers fear not though, as Activision will be releasing the game on your platforms too. While no date or time frame has been confirmed, they did say “other platforms” will following today’s release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered on PS4.

The release will include the full campaign and 16 multiplayer maps all in their remastered glory. However, the release does not include the Modern Warfare Remastered Variety Map Pack. The pack is available for $9.99 for those who want to pick it up. Gamers who wish to pick up the remaster can do so for $39.99 today on PS4.

Gamers can check out the new trailer released for the announcement of the game receiving a standalone release below. Brian Raffel, who is the studio head of Raven Software, spoke about the work put into the remaster.

“It’s been an honor to bring this great title, which holds such a special place in our hearts, to a new generation of players. With Modern Warfare Remastered, we’re able to relive our favorite campaign levels and multiplayer moments in full HD visuals and remastered audio.  No detail was too small, as the team pored over every aspect of development,” Raffel said.

To me, this is not a surprise to see the remaster debut as a standalone. Last year’s offer was clearly a move to try and boost the sales of Infinite Warfare. It always was going to behoove Activision to release Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone release. And now they have done so.

A new Call of Duty event “Days of Summer” is coming to Modern Warfare Remastered. This will be a five-week event that starts today. It will involve in-game giveaways, XP events and new playlists. There will also be a summer map for the remaster, available throughout the five-week event. Complete details of the events are as follows:

This year’s Call of Duty is WWII and is looking very, very good. The campaign will bring a visceral and intense campaign, much like previous iterations. Its multiplayer is taking players back to boots-on-the-ground, a much requested change from fans. Call of Duty: WWII launches this Nov. 3 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
