Announced just a little over an hour ago is Far Cry 5. The game is set to launch on Feb. 27, 2018 and it will launch on PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Project Scorpio and PC. To celebrate the announcement, Ubisoft has dropped a trio of new character vignette videos for gamers to enjoy.

The first video you’ll see highlights Mary May, a bartender in Hope County, Montana. She speaks about her life years ago and then refers to the Project at Eden’s Gate. Mary’s family is deeply affected by the cult and this in turn obviously has an impact on her. At the end of the video, there’s a cool twist to it with an arsenal of weapons behind the bar she’s tending.

The second vignette highlights Pastor Jerome, and it has a slightly different tone than Mary’s. This clip takes a more religious take on what’s happening in Hope County. A recurring verse is “whoa to the man who leads my flock astray.” As with the first video, Pastor Jerome’s has a badass ending to it that sends the mood into an exciting direction.

Finally, the third of the Far Cry 5 character vignettes stars Nick Rye. He owns an aircraft and perhaps he’ll be who players go to for air support in Far Cry 5. We learn that Nick has a child on the way, possibly hinting at events in the game. His father and grandfather fought in “the war” before. Following the path of the previous two videos, this third one has a unique twist for how Nick will carry out his resistance against the Project at Eden’s Gate.

I am enjoying the mood and approach Ubisoft is taking with Far cry 5. The game looks to have a wonderful blend of personality with it. Hope County as a setting feels like it couldn’t be more perfect for where Far Cry needed to go. It’ll be great to have Far Cry back this coming Feb. 27, 2018.
