While you might be bummed about the Red Dead Redemption 2 delay, fear not because Far Cry 5 is coming. Ubisoft is getting ready to fully reveal Far Cry 5. Today, the publisher dropped four brand-new teaser videos. These clips give a glimpse into the full reveal, which happens on Friday, May 26.
A slew of new Far Cry 5 teaser videos were revealed today. You can see each of the videos below. While it is unconfirmed at this time, it seems as though PS4 and PS4 Pro will be the lead marketing platforms for Far Cry 5. As you can see in the screenshot above, PS4 and PS4 Pro are the only platforms listed.
Typically, when publishers only list one platform at the end of promo videos, it’s indicative of their marketing intentions. This suggests PS4 and PS4 Pro will be the lead marketing platforms for Far Cry 5. This is hardly a surprise given the series’ recent history of Sony-exclusive deals.
Far Cry 4 not only appeared at Sony’s E3 2014 briefing, but it had exclusive content for PlayStation gamers. If you remember correctly, co-op was introduced for the first time in Far Cry 4. PS4 gamers who picked up the game earned themselves the “Keys to Kyrat” feature.
This provided gamers with ten keys for those who didn’t buy the game to try Far Cry 4 out for themselves. Additionally, Far Cry 4 Complete Edition only came to PS4 and PC, not Xbox One. Since it looks like Far Cry 5 will receive marketing via the PlayStation platform, expect it to appear at Sony’s E3 2017 briefing.
To take things a step further, it is fair to expect some sort of exclusive content for Far Cry 5 on PS4. What that is obviously isn’t known quite yet. Possibilities include exclusive in-game missions, vehicles, gear, weapons and more. We’ll have to wait to find out more information on Friday. If PlayStation gets Far Cry, then you can bet Xbox will get Assassin’s Creed.
Ubisoft’s upcoming open-world game will apparently be taking place in the mountainous setting of Montana. Hope County is the area that’ll be housing the events of Far Cry 5. Not much information is available when it comes to Far Cry 5, however, it seems it’ll be taking a western theme.
The first video showcases running water of a river somewhere presumably in Montana. Second, Ubisoft’s next teaser shows a windy field where a man is running as fast as possible. Off screen a gunshot rings out and strikes the man down.
The third video shows a church in the middle of a windy valley. The song “Amazing Grace” is being sung by folks inside. Not much else happens before the end of the clip. Finally, the fourth video shows a mountainous forest and the scream of a man erupts suddenly. You can watch the videos below.
Each of the videos most certainly symbolize the type of terrain gamers will encounter in Far Cry 5. The series always shows off the beautiful side of nature and this new game won’t be stopping that. Montana is a stunning state and will undoubtedly serve as a perfect canvas for this next game.
Far Cry Primal is the most recent installment in the series. This game showcased prehistoric man and some of the beasts you would expect to find during that time. Far Cry 4 was the last numbered installment and that launched back in 2014. The setting was the gorgeous Himalayas, yet another mountainous setting.
It’ll be awesome to have Far Cry back when the game launches. Ubisoft isn’t saying when Far Cry 5 will release, however, I’m betting it’ll be sometime this fall. More information about Far Cry 5 is coming later this week. Stick around here at We Write Things for more on Far Cry 5.
