Yesterday, Ghost Games confirmed there would be a new installment in the Need for Speed franchise. They went onto confirm the game will be coming before the year ends. Ghost confirmed this new game would be playable offline, a contrast to the 2015 release. Additionally, the developer said gamers would be able to pause the experience mid-game.

While that information was all known yesterday, there’s a small part of the post that I haven’t seen anyone talking about. If you take a peek at the photo above, you can clearly see a date. The date says “June 2,” perhaps indicating an upcoming reveal for the new racer.

EA will host its EA Play event from June 10-12, so the date has to be for something different. It would be quite odd for the developer to have a largely uninteresting image be the only picture in the post and not have the date mean something. I fully anticipate a reveal will happen at EA Play 2017 for the new Need for Speed.

Even if the full reveal happens during EA Play, June 2 could be when the publisher formally announces the upcoming racer. I’m thinking a reveal or teaser trailer will surface on June 2. No platforms or release date have been announced by EA. I say it is fair to expect a November-ish release date considering previous games have launched during that month. Since the game traditionally is a multi-platform release, expect it to arrive on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

EA Play 2017 will likely showcase games like Star Wars Battlefront II, all of the publisher’s sports games, the new Need for Speed and even a new action Star Wars title. The event will take place from June 10-12. The company’s most recent release is Mass Effect Andromeda. You can pick up the game on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
