It has been a crazy year for everyone in 2016. With New Year’s Eve right around the corner, people all across the world will be celebrating the turn of the calendar. Parties and good times will be had, but the fun doesn’t have to stop there as National Bloody Mary Day commences on New Year’s Day.

The fine folks at Menagé à Trois Vodka are here to help you prepare for the big day off. You might have your traditional Blood Mary recipe at home or your favorite brunch place to enjoy them. However, allow Menagé à Trois Vodka the chance to win you over with a few Bloody Mary recipes of their own.

There are several recipes we’ll talk about today and the Tres Pollos is the first. Of the two I’ll discuss in this feature, the Tres Pollos is the most unique cocktail I’ve come across this year, courtesy of an unconventional garnish.

In order to create a Tres Pollos Bloody Mary, you will need a number of ingredients. Those include Menagé à Trois Vodka, Blood Mary mix (Tres Agaves recommended), a lemon wedge, celery, green olives, Collins glass, ice and of course, your fried chicken wing or leg.

Using your Collins glass, add in two parts Menagé à Trois Vodka and four parts Bloody Mary Mix. Make sure there is ice in the glass before adding in the liquids. Once you’ve accurately measured out these quantities, go ahead and mix everything together until you’re satisfied with the blend.

From there, it is time to add the garnishes for your Tres Pollos. Place one celery stick in the Collins glass and with a toothpick or skewer, stick two or three green olives and let them rest at the top of the Blood Mary. Two versus three is a personal preference, and won’t change the ultimate taste of the cocktail.

Then, go ahead and drape one lemon wedge over the rim of the glass. Finally, the pièce de résistance garnish is the friend chicken wing or fried chicken leg. This is a traditional Bloody Mary recipe that is accentuated by its garnishes. Folks who want a snack as well as a tasty drink on New Year’s Day will enjoy the Tres Pollos.

Switching over to our second cocktail, the Big Bad Breakfast Bloody Bull Shot requires a few more ingredients. First, allow two beef bouillon cubes to dissolve in three tablespoons of warm water.

From there, you’ll also need to have Menagé à Trois Vodka, crushed ice, V-8 juice, dill pickle juice, freshly squeezed lemon juice, freshly squeezed lime juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, kitchen bouquet sauce, Tabasco pepper sauce, freshly cracked black pepper, celery seed, lime wedges, celery stalks, quartered pickles, shaker, pint glasses and strainer.

The first thing you should do is fill two pint glasses with crushed ice. Then using your shaker, add in six parts V-8 juice and the bouillon mix from earlier. Add in one and a half tablespoons of dill pickle juice and one tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Follow that with one and a half teaspoons of freshly squeezed lime juice, two and half teaspoons of horseradish, two teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce, one teaspoon of garlic, one teaspoon of Kitchen Bouquet, one teaspoon of Tabasco pepper sauce, one teaspoon of freshly cracked black pepper and one eighth teaspoon of celery seed.

Cover and shake the contents for a total of 15 seconds. If you aren’t satisfied with the blend, feel free to shake for long. However, 15 seconds should do it. Then strain the liquid over your pint glasses, which already have ice in them. Top the drinks with two and a half parts of Menagé à Trois Vodka.

You can stir the drink if you want, as that is what I did with my celery stick garnish. Finally, garnish the drink with said celery stick, a lime wedge and quartered pickles. The Big Bad Breakfast Bloody Bull Shot cocktail has a big name and excellent taste. I prefer this recipe over the first, mainly because it brings something strikingly different to the Bloody Mary world. That said, a fried chicken leg as a garnish is pretty unique too.
