Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon has been available for close to a few weeks now, and Nintendo has been catching all of the benefits. The two games have been met with widespread popularity, so much so that some major news was announced by Nintendo.
Nintendo has confirmed that both Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have become the fastest-selling Nintendo games ever launched in the Americas. It has been less than two weeks and the titles have already garnered well over 3.7 million units sold, marking a significant increase from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
Comparatively, Nintendo said Sun and Moon saw an increase of over 85 percent in sales compared to X and Y. The latter two games were no slouches in the sales department. They too set sales records in their own right. Both games have been available since 2013.
Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have smash previous records with their near two week run. Sales won’t be slowing down anytime soon, particularly with the holidays still firmly in our view. Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Doug Bowser spoke about the news.
“With these huge sales figures, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have proved themselves as two of the hottest video games to buy this holiday season. With great reviews and outstanding fan response, these next iterations in the Pokémon series are sure to please any player in the family,” Bowser said.
Since Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version launched in 1996, all “Pokémon-related software has sold more than 280 million units.” Gamers can pick up Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon now for Nintendo 3DS.
Nintendo still has quite the set of months ahead of themselves. This coming Dec. 15 will mark the time when Super Mario Run launches on the App Store. Then in March, Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide. Stick around here at We Write Things for more on Nintendo.
